The AVAC will be having its yearly business meeting on Friday, October 9th, starting at 7pm. We will be electing a Board and discuss topics of interests related to the club, issues and changes.
We will have a dark sky star party on Saturday October 10th. Weather permitting. Tentatively scheduled for Red Cliffs Nature Area on Rt. 14. Further details coming!
The AVAC will be at the College of the Canyons to support their Fall Star Party. Weather permitting. This is held at the Canyon Country Campus: 17200 Sierra Hwy, Santa Clarita, CA 913511. Free and open to the public. Free parking in Lot #3. This event is from 6:00pm to 9:30pm. Science themed presentations, interactive demonstration tables, telescopes available for viewing, indoor planetarium. Food truck available. Speaker: Dave Margrave, RS-25 Engine Program Chief Engineer for L3Harris Technologies. Mr. Margave will present "Artemis II and the Core Stage Rocket Engine". The RS-25 engine was used on the Space Shuttle, and is now being used on the launch system for the Artemis mission.
