DSSP at Chuchupate, weather permitting. You may arrive any time on Saturday, but do not drive into the parking lot at night with your lights on. There will be other astronomy clubs there for observing. Arrive during daylight to set up your telescopes. Bring your own drinks, water, food. There are vault toilets but no running water. Red flashlights only after dark.
Location: From the Antelope Valley, Take CA-138 (Ave D) west to Interstate 5. Take I-5 North to Frazier Mountain Road and exit. Go west, passing Frazier Park, until you come to a 4 way stop with a flashing red light. Continue straight ahead for several more miles until you come to Lockwood Valley Road. (Pizza place at corner) Turn LEFT. Continue for about 3 miles until you see a small sign "Chuchupate Ranger Station", turn LEFT (Frazier Mountain Rd/Forest Rte BN04) . The speed limit on this road is 20 mph. Drive through the Ranger Camp, for about 1/8 mile until you see a sign "Trail Head" and make a right turn into the parking lot.
